Jan made this album collecting, sorting and adapting musical elements from China Xinjiang's Altai nomadic horse people's culture. Pastoral song's lyrics are all about the attachment and nostalgia for this homeland and its folk culture. Jan sings in several Altai languages including Kazakh, Tuva (Russian Altai), Kirgiz and Oirat (Mongolian tribe). These nomadic folk songs and melodies travelled through lands and time. There are so many versions that we don't know what remains from the original songs. Those belong to earth, soil and time. We don't know for how long they exist but they fortunately passed down through generations, across frontiers.

Cet album de Jan est le fruit du recueil, de la sélection et de l'adaptation de musiques des peuples nomades et cavaliers des régions de l'Altai du Xinjiang (Chine). « Pastoral song » parle de l'attachement, de la nostalgie pour ces grands espaces et leurs traditions. Jan chante en plusieurs langues parlées au dans l'Altai telles que le Kazakh, le Touva (Altai russe), le Kirgiz ou encore le Oïrat (tribu mongole). Ces chants et mélodies nomades ont traversé les pays et le temps. Il en existe tant de versions qu'on ne sait ce qu'il reste d'origine. Ces musiques appartiennent à la Terre, au sol et au temps. On ne sait depuis quand elles existent mais elles ont, par chance, été transmises de génération en génération, au delà des frontières.

疆怀着对故土的爱和对民间人文的崇敬制作了这张以搜集、整理、改编新疆阿尔泰语系马背民族音乐元素为主题的唱片，其中包括哈萨克、图瓦、柯尔克孜、卫拉特等新疆世居游牧民族的歌谣及曲子。这些曲目的原素材几乎不存在如流行乐中所说的原作、拷贝或原唱、翻唱那类概念，因它们光在民间便早有无数'版本'，它们属于大地，它们是真正意义上的民乐，源于土壤、岁月，我们不知道它们已存在多久，难得的是被世代流传。

Jan is a folk musician from Xinjiang (China), and more precisely from Altai mountains. He plays dombra (Kazakh luth), Tsuur (flute), jew's harp and igil (Tuvan horsehead 2 strings viiolin). Very inspired of Altai nomadic horse people's folk music, Jan likes to share traditionnal tunes, but also creates a very personnal music, a bridge from grasslands to Chinese modern cities. ... more
